I’m not even sure what to say. I told myself to take my time reading this last book, so naturally I finished it faster than I have any other Shara novel. I am very sad to see the series come to a close. As the author is currently writing MULTIPLE spinoff series (YES!) Shara and her Blood still have a special place in my heart.Of course I can still see a 7th book for Shara. SO MUCH happens in this book, even up to the last few pages, and new revelations deepen the story even further (as usual when Joely’s beautiful mind is at work). But as far as endings goes, this one is satisfying.Each character is so beautifully drawn out, I love the range of emotions. This book was definitely the funniest! I love how my first favorite Blood (Mehen) is highlighted throughout this book. My second favorite (Vivian) not so much unfortunately, but there are only so many pages.I cannot express how happy I am to have started this series. This series will always have a very special place in my heart. I am now a very loyal fan of Joely Sue Burkhart and I will definitely be reading her other series. Cause this read takes, he loves, and what he loves, he keeps for all time. I can’t wait to get this in paperback and complete my physical collection. While I enjoyed this book and I have absolutely loved following Shara‘a journey, this one seemed a little slow for me. I understand that the past few weeks for her was non stop drama and action so she needed a break. I was just surprised with how low key it seemed when compared to the last 4 books. It kind of dragged for me at times.The ending with Marne and the revelation of her plans kind of confused me. Mainly her abrupt change in demeanor when Shara used her given name. I guess I just didn’t understand the significance of the use of her full name when Marne was about to kill Shara and all her Blood, but then things changed and she was being given a proper presentation. I just didn’t get it.Overall I loved this series and I’m glad I decided to try it again. I have been missing out on an amazing series that has amazing world building, intriguing plot, and fantastic character development. I’m excited to read about the other queens and eventually return to Shara’s life.
